Oval and Kennington Development Area campaign

The proposals for Berkley Homes redeveloping the Kennington gasworks (at the back of Tesco on Kennington Lane) are now open to public consultation.

It is a huge development and your Prince's Councillors have been pushing for the following to be included:

  • New homes for local people - through a local lettings policy we want as much social and affordable housing as possible to be allocated to people already living locally who have a housing need
  • Employment opportunities - we want to bring new businesses to Kennington
  • Youth Employment Hub - we are campaigning for Kennington to get a Youth Employability Hub which can support young people with on-the-job training and job opportunities
  • Space for a new library - as part of our campaign to secure library provision for North Lambeth in the face of 50% cuts to our budgets, we are pushing for a brand new state-of-the-art library as part of this development
We hope you will support our campaign for a new library, employment hub and affordable housing - you can sign our petition on the Lambeth Labour website.
